Do I need a lawyer for this?

Is there a deadline to apply?
No. Under the Slovak Citizenship Act, no deadline exists by which you need to file your application.
How far back can the Slovak ancestor be?
To apply for citizenship through ancestry, you must be a child, grandchild, or great-grandchild of your Slovak ancestor. No generation limit exists for the simplified naturalization process as long as you can prove your ancestor’s ethnic connection to Slovakia.
Can my whole family apply together?
Yes. Family members can submit together, but each applicant over the age of fourteen will need their own set of application materials, including vital records.
