Connaissance Solutions, LLC, the parent company of LuxCitizenship, is elated to announce that the documentary film Lëtzebuerger an Argentinien (“Luxembourgers in Argentina”) produced by our company’s film studio branch Connaissance Films has been selected as the Luxembourg film for the 10th European Arthouse Cinema Day on November 23, 2025.

A Global Celebration of Cultural Diversity

European Arthouse Cinema Day is the world’s largest arthouse initiative, uniting over 4,000 screens in cinemas across more than 45 countries. The 10th edition aims to make a global statement for cultural diversity, equity, and dialogue across borders, bringing together audiences, cinemas, and film professionals worldwide to celebrate and defend the values of the arthouse movement.

For Luxembourg’s selection to feature a film exploring forgotten migration heritage feels particularly meaningful. The initiative, organized by CICAE (the International Confederation of Arthouse Cinemas), celebrates how cinemas bring people together regardless of age, origin, education, or income, promoting cultural diversity and showcasing young talent.

About “Lëtzebuerger an Argentinien”

Our 52-minute documentary unveils a seldom-told chapter of history: the remarkable journey of hundreds of Luxembourgish families who migrated to Argentina beginning in 1856. Through intimate interviews with descendants and historians, the film traces their path from early agricultural settlements in Esperanza to the challenging 1889 voyage of 500 immigrants to San Antonio de Iraola and beyond.

What makes this story particularly compelling is its modern twist. During the COVID-19 lockdown, isolated descendants began exploring their family trees and uncovering their long-lost Luxembourgish roots—a discovery that sparked a movement to reclaim and celebrate their rediscovered heritage.

The film asks a universal question that resonates across borders: What is home, if not the echo of a place that lives within us?
